Lectionary Class

This class was originally a Bible Study Class which followed the Revised Common Lectionary, but has recently focused on studying and discussing short Bible study books, many of them by J. Ellsworth Kalas. The books and videos of the class are used as starting points for conversation. This class is relaxed, informal, and encourages everyone to share their viewpoint.

This class explores topics of spirituality in today’s world.  It is a discussion based class which asks the deep questions of faith for which there are no easy answers.  Various forms of media used to enhance the discussion.  Previous topics have included Biblical Studies, art and music in religion, and spiritual disciplines in other religious traditions.  The Spiritual Paths Class meets in the classroom beside the sanctuary.

Women, Wine and the Word is a group of women of all ages who gathers for a meal, fellowship and discussion of The Wired Word.  The Wired Word is emailed out each week to the group.  We meet every Monday night at 6:00 pm at Omar’s Uptown during the school year.  Omar’s has a special menu on Monday night that offers $8.00 burgers and other special entrées.  Come join us for some great food, fun and lots of fellowship!

Presbyterian Women

The Presbyterian Women meet the second Tuesday of each month at 10am in the Church Parlor. Using the Horizon Magazine to provide a Bible Study and discussion guide, the Presbyterian Women gather together to nurture faith together. Leadership of the discussions and responsibility for hosting rotates among the group. This year’s study is entitled “Love Carved in Stone: A Fresh Look at the Ten Commandments” by Eugenia Anne Gamble.

In addition to meeting for Bible Study and prayer, the Presbyterian Women support local, regional, national, and international mission through the Thank Offering, Birthday Offering, and Leas Coin programs. On the fourth Thursday of every month, they visit Craighead Nursing Home to lead Bingo and celebrate birthdays from that month.
